Abstract

ABSTRAK Nama : M. Samsul Arifin NPM : 20210120360004 Judul : Pengaruh Media Sosial terhadap Partisipasi Politik Generasi Milenial dan Generasi Z Pembimbing : Dr. Sa’diyah El Adawiyah, M.Si. Ringkasan : Generasi milenial dan generasi Z aktif menggunakan media sosial. Partisipasi politik mereka sangat penting. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui penggunaan media sosial dan partisipasi politik generasi milenial dan generasi Z serta pengaruh media sosial terhadap partisipasi politik mereka. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dan kuesioner disebar secara online. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan generasi milenial dan generasi Z mayoritas menggunakan media sosial dengan smartphone, paling suka konten lucu, menyimpan video, dan memberikan like/ komentar postingan sendiri. Kebanyakan generasi milenial menggunakan 2 platform media sosial, generasi Z menggunakan lebih dari 2 platform media sosial. Generasi milenial paling suka mengunggah foto, generasi Z suka mengunggah video. Kebanyakan generasi milenial menggunakan media sosial untuk mengetahui informasi/ tren terbaru, generasi Z menggunakan media sosial untuk mengisi waktu luang/ relaksasi. Partisipasi politik generasi milenial dan generasi Z dalam electoral participation dan consumer participation tinggi. Namun, partisipasi politik generasi milenial dan generasi Z dalam party activity, protest activity, dan contact activity rendah. Media sosial memberikan pengaruh terhadap partisipasi politik generasi milenial, yaitu sebesar 30,5%. Sisanya yaitu 69,5% berasal dari variabel lain yang berada di luar model. Media sosial juga memberikan pengaruh terhadap partisipasi politik generasi Z, yaitu sebesar 34,7%. Sisanya yaitu 65,3% berasal dari variabel lain yang berada di luar model. Summary : Millennials and Z generation are actively using social media. Their political participation is very important. The purpose of this study was to determine the use of social media and political participation of millennials and Z generation as well as the influence of social media on their political participation. This study uses a survey method with a quantitative approach and questionnaires are distributed online. The results of the study concluded that the millennial generation and Z generation mostly use social media with smartphones, most like funny content, save videos, and give likes/comments on their posts. Most millennials use 2 social media platforms, Z generation uses more than 2 social media platforms. Millennials like to upload photos the most, Z generation likes to upload videos. Most millennials use social media to find out the latest information/trends, Z generation uses social media to fill their spare time/relaxation. The political participation of the millennial generation and Z generation in electoral participation and consumer participation is high. However, the political participation of millennials and Z generation in party activities, protest activities, and contact activities are low. Social media influences the political participation of the millennial generation, which is 30.5%. The remaining 69.5% comes from other variables that are outside the model. Social media also influences the political participation of Generation Z, which is 34.7%. The remaining 65.3% comes from other variables that are outside the model.
