Abstract

The New Asia - Africa Strategic Partnership (NAASP) is expected to be an effective solution for relations between Asian and African countries. In other words, the effectiveness of the NAASP depends very much on the commitments of the member countries involved in it. This was made by Indonesia as a means to become a more dignified country. Viewed from the background, the issue to be discussed is about the factors that drive Indonesia's active role in NAASP cooperation. Research conducted using qualitative descriptive analysis type, by analyzing data from primary and secondary and tertiary sources to be able to look for relationships and factors that encourage Indonesia's active role in NAASP cooperation. Data collection techniques using Library Research techniques and data analysis techniques used in this study are descriptive analysis. The conclusion of this study is that there are factors that drive Indonesia's active role in the collaboration which began in 2005-2011, including; The principle of free and active foreign policy, not bound by ideology/politics of other countries, strengthening partnership relations, potential for cooperation between countries, Indonesia as the main enforcer of cooperation, solidarity of Indonesia as a pioneer country, and the awakening of the spirit of Dasasila Bandung
