Abstract

Reactive power in distribution systems is caused by channels which are mostly reactive components, but reactive power is consumed by inductive loads. If in a power distribution system at the center of the distribution branch is not installed capacitors, the reactive power in the distribution system will be borne entirely by the generator, so there are losses in the distribution system that makes the apparent power supplied by PLN becomes large and the costs borne by electricity consumers to more expensive. Therefore we need a step that must be done to compensate for the reactive power in the distribution system, one of which is by optimizing the placement and size of the bank capacitors. This research will optimize the placement and size of bank capacitors in the distribution system by using the reference from data obtained from the measurement and simulation results, so that it can be seen how much influence the bank capacitors in compensating the reactive power contained in the distribution system so that losses on the system can be fixed with the help of ETAP Powerstation 12.6.0. Keywords : Distribution System, Active Power, Reactive Power, Inductive Load, Capacitor Bank
