Abstract

Background. Based on information provided by the World Health Organization (WHO), in developing countries, approximately IO to 15 percent of mothers in the perinatal period (from pregnancy to a year after childbirth) experience depression. A systematic analysis of mental health issues among mothers in developing countries indicates that the incidence rate of mental disorders, including depression and anxiety, averages around 15.6 percent during pregnancy and 19.8 percent after childbirth. In Indonesia, about 22.4 percent of mothers are reported to experience depression after the childbirth process.Objective. This study aims to determine the relationship between postpartum depression symptoms and self-efficacy in breastfeeding mothers at North Cipinang Besar Health Center Metode. This study is a quantitative-oriented research that adopts a cross-sectional research design. The sampling method used is total sampling, where the entire population that meets the inclusion criteria becomes the study sample. The total number of samples involved is 96 respondents. Data collection is carried out through the respondents' completion of a questionnaire, and the data is analyzed using both univariate and bivariate approaches by applying chi-square analysis. To process the data, the statistical software SPSS is utilized.Results. The results of this study revealed that the characteristics of breastfeeding mothers in the working area of the North Cipinang Besar Public Health Center were mostly mothers aged> 35 (47.8%), most of the mothers did not work (82.5%), (89.5%) respondents have a high level of education, (78.1 %) respondents with a history of normal delivery. The results of the study found that the majority of breastfeeding mothers were in the category of mild depressive symptoms with as much as 85%, while breastfeeding mothers with moderate depression were as much as 8.3%, and for the category of severe depressive symptoms n 5.2%, the results of the study found that 96 ( I 00%) respondents with high self-efficacy and O (0%) with low self-efficacy.Conclusion. so that it can be concluded that there is a relationship between postpartum depression symptoms and self-efficacy in breastfeeding mothers.
