Abstract

Background: Exclusive breastfeeding is breastfeeding for babies from birth to six months without adding or replacing it with other foods or drinks (except drugs, vitamins and minerals). Contraception is a tool used to help prevent unwanted pregnancies. In the use of contraception needs to be considered in terms of health, side effects and the possibility of failure. For mothers who breastfeed when they want to use contraception, it is necessary to pay attention so that unwanted things don't happen and affect milk production. Objective: analyze the relationship between the use of 3-month injectable contraception to the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in PMB "X" Kecamatan Cipondoh, Kota Tangerang. Methods: analytic observational design with a cross sectional. The population of this study were 3-month injectable family planning acceptors at PMB "X" Cipondoh District, Tangerang City in 2023, totaling 63 people. Data collection tool using a questionnaire. Data analysis using Chi-Square.Results: Bivariate: 40 people (8 I .63%) had enough criteria for 3-month injection of contraception for exclusive breastfeeding and 9 people (18.37%) had no criteria. For other than 3-month injectable family planning contraception, the adequacy of exclusive breastfeeding with sufficient criteria was 3 people (21.42%) and I I people (78.58%) did not have criteria. Statistical tests showed that there was a significant relationship between the use of 3-month injection contraception and the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding (p<0.05). Conclusion: From this study it was concluded that there was a relationship between the use of 3-month injectable contraception with the cov­erage of exclusive breastfeeding at the PMB "X" in Cipondoh District, Tangerang City in 2023.
