Abstract

Background: Globally, over the past 10 years, the exclusive breastfeeding rate for infant under 6 months has increased from 38% to 48%. The breastfeeding coverage in Indonesia has also risen to 72,04% in 2022. However, the prevalence in DK Jakarta province remains relatively low at 62,22% in 2022, with Jakarta Pusat being the second-lowest after Jakarta Baral. Objective: This study is to analyze the differences in breastfeeding practices and breastfeeding self-efficacy between working and non-working mothers. Method: This study employs a quantitative research method with a cross-sectional design. The sample was selected using purposive sampling. Bivariate data analysis was conducted using the chi-square test with a significance level of p<0,05. Result: the characteristics of the study participants indicate the both working and non-working mothers fall within the age range of 24.94 to 25.30 years, most of them are multigravida, have a family income of>Rp.4,901, 789,-, and have completed their education up to high school level. There was no significant difference in exclusive breastfeeding practices between working and non-working mothers (p=<0,117). However, a significant difference was observed in breastfeeding se!f efficacy (p=<0,001) with a relative risk (RR) value of 1,621. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study indicates that working mothers are more likely to provide exclusive breastfeeding and have higher breastfeeding se;f efficacy. There is a significant difference in breastfeeding self-efficacy between working and non-working mothers, with working mothers being 1,621 times more likely to have higher breastfeeding self-efficacy compared to non-working mothers.
