Abstract

Background According to the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2018, approximately 75% of women in the world have experienced vaginal discharge at least once in their lives and 45% have experienced vaginal discharge twice or more. Leucorrhoea actually doesn't need treatment, but most women don't know about vaginal discharge and its causes, as a result if it's not handled properly it can cause infertility and early symptoms of uterine cancer. Objective. The purpose of this study was to find out whether there is a relationship between knowledge, attitudes and personal hygiene behavior towards vaginal discharge in class VIII students of SMPN 137 Jakarta. Method. This study used an analytic survey research method with a cross sectional design. The number of samples used was 107 respondents. Data collection using a questionnaire. This research was conducted with class VIII students at SMPN 137 Central Jakarta in June 2022. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between knowledge (P value = 0.041) and behavior (P value = 0.018) towards vaginal discharge. Then there is no significant relationship between attitudes (P value = 0.145) with the incidence of vaginal discharge. Conclusion of this study is that there is a significant relationship between knowledge and behavior with vaginal discharge and there is no significant relationship between attitudes and vaginal discharge.
