Abstract

Background: The adolescent period between the ages of 10 to 19 is crucial, yet the risk of unintended pregnancies remains high. Factors contributing to the occurrence of unintended pregnancies include social interactions, limited parental attention, and involvement in romantic relationships. In Indonesia, approximately 63.2% of pregnancy cases occur between the ages of 15 to 19, with 55.9% of pregnant teenagers still attending school. Prevention efforts need to be enhanced through education and programs such as CERIA and PK.PR. Objective: This study aims to identify the relationship between knowledge and attitudes with the behavior of preventing unintended pregnancies among adolescents in SMK Muhammadiyab 2 Tangerang. Methods: A quantitative research design with a cross-sectional study involved 226 respondents from grades X, Xl, and XII at SMK Muharnmadiyah 2 Tangerang. Data analysis was performed using SPSS. Results: Knowledge was not significantly linked to prevention behavior (p = 0.591; 95% Cl OR = 0.68-2.J 7), while attitudes had a significant correlation with prevention behavior (p = 0.014; 95% CI OR = 1.18-3.50). Conclusions: The research indicates that there are still adolescents with negative behaviors related to preventing unwanted pregnancies. Although knowledge does not have a direct impact on behavior, early education on reproductive health and religious values has the potential to increase awareness and foster more positive behaviors.
