Abstract

Bearings are one of the important components used in driving motors to support medium-sized industries such as motorcycle service workshops which are widely used in induction motors and also wheels, bearings are also needed in large-scale industry, it's just that bearings are prone to damage more quickly compared to bearings with a lubrication system, so that the usage period needs to be made a permanent replacement schedule so that the replacement of the bearing quantity is even more scheduled, but in reality the current bearing replacement is still done manually, namely by tapping it so that the bearing can enter the shaft or bearing housing so that it has the potential to damage the bearing when installed, and has an impact on a shorter life time. For this reason, the research here is designing a bearing expansion device with a system for converting the rate of electric current flowing into heat energy where the design of the tool contains 2 bearings with planning to use wall materials using acrylic with a thickness of 5 mm and capable of releasing heat of 150° and absorbing heat of 180° and heat coming out of the expansion device of 85°. Where the test results on the bearing type Enzo 695Z with an inner diameter of 5 mm and an outer diameter of 13 mm are able to expand until there is an addition of 0. 2 mm while the Cost of Electricity per Hour = Rp. 249.6/hour where the time needed to expand 2 (two) bearings is approximately 30 minutes
